The short version: your Home Screen layout stays on your Mac. We don't run analytics in the app, we don't have accounts, and we don't sell anything to anyone.
What stays on your computer
Your layout, your icons, your wallpaper, your backups and your saved layouts are read
from your iPhone over the cable and kept in a folder on your Mac (~/.icon-mosaic).
None of it is sent to us.
What leaves your computer, and when
- App categories. To group apps by category, the app sends the identifiers of your installed apps to Apple's public App Store lookup. That request goes to Apple, not to us.
- Organizing in your own words. Only if you use it: the names and categories of the apps you are organizing, and the sentence you typed, are sent to our server and on to Anthropic, whose model writes the proposal. We don't store the request or the answer. We count how many requests a license makes per day, to cap abuse.
- Activating a license. Your license key, a name for the computer, and an identifier derived from that computer's hardware, so a license can be limited to three machines. The identifier is a hash; it doesn't reveal the hardware it came from.
- Checking for updates. At launch the app asks our server for the latest version number. The request carries the version you are running and nothing else.
When you buy
Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see your card. We receive your email address and an order reference, which we store alongside your license key so we can send you the key and help if you lose it. A refund marks the key as revoked.
Who else is involved
Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting for this site and the license server), Resend (delivering the email with your key), Anthropic (only for organizing in your own words), and Apple (category lookup). Each receives only what is described above.
This website
No cookies, no trackers. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when it serves them.
Your data
Email us and we will tell you what we hold against your email address, correct it, or delete it. Deleting a license record means the key can no longer be activated on a new computer.
